Topic is a quarterly magazine of first-person nonfictional stories
on a revolving theme. The magazine has featured notable writers, great
photographers, and innovative, often unusual voices from a monkey mother
to a death-row inmate. After redesigning and relaunching the magazine,
we became board members and co-creative directors of Topic, guiding
the creation of a content-rich website, curating launch parties and
readings, and forming partnerships with advertisers, sponsors, and
media outlets. The award-winning design and original format has garnered
praise from The New York Times, The New Yorker, W magazine, and many
others. In 2006, Topic was invited to take part in P.S.1's "Fine
Print" series, the New York AIGA's
"Fresh Dialogues: Making Magazines," and the Visionaire
Gallery's traveling survey of alternative publications, "The
Last Magazine."
